Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and driven Pharmacy Technician to join our small but growing team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping us expand and develop our compounding and DME operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in non-sterile compounding and either have knowledge of sterile compounding or be open to learning it. Familiarity with DME order processing, HCPCS codes, and payer requirements is preferred. A passion for marketing or prior marketing experience would be a huge plus, as this position also includes assisting in sales outreach efforts to expand our client base. Key Responsibilities:
Compounding Support:
Prepare non-sterile compounds in accordance with USP <795> standards.Be open to learning and performing sterile compounding following USP <797> guidelines.Assist the pharmacist in charge with compounding processes, ensuring the quality and consistency of all formulations.Follow exact formulations, ingredient specifications, and labeling requirements.Maintain compounding equipment and assist with regular calibration and maintenance. DME Coordination & Processing Support intake and fulfillment of DME orders, including patient intake, coverage verification, documentation, and order tracking.Utilize HCPCS codes, payer guidelines, and internal systems to ensure accurate processing of equipment and supplies.Assist with preparing and submitting prior authorizations, ABNs, and other documentation required by Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.Communicate with patients, providers, and insurers to resolve documentation or coverage issues.Help maintain DME inventory and ensure orders are processed and shipped accurately and promptly. Sales Outreach Make sales calls to potential clients, including healthcare providers, clinics, and pharmacies.Build and maintain relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.Collaborate with the marketing team to support lead generation, sales campaigns, and follow-up outreach. Marketing Support Assist with marketing efforts, including social media, promotional campaigns, and content creation.Support the team in reaching new clients and expanding the pharmacy’s reach in both compounding and DME services. Contribute ideas to enhance the pharmacy’s marketing strategies and branding.Quality Control & Compliance.
Ensure that all compounds are prepared in compliance with FDA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and best practices.Ensure all DME orders follow CMS guidelines, payer requirements, and internal SOPs.Perform inspections, testing, and documentation for compounded products.Support the pharmacist in maintaining patient safety standards and regulatory compliance. Customer Service & Support.
Answer client inquiries regarding compounding and DME services and provide product information.Handle customer complaints or concerns, providing effective solutions promptly.Assist customers in understanding their prescriptions, compounded medications, and medical equipment.Inventory & Ordering.
Manage inventory of raw ingredients and compounding supplies.Manage DME inventory, restocking, and reorder points to ensure availability of high-demand items.Place orders for new inventory and ensure timely restocking of necessary items.Administrative Support. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.Assist with preparing insurance claims and billing for compounded medications and DME items.Document prescriptions, patient information, and drug interactions accurately. Support the pharmacist in managing workflows and pharmacy documentation.
Requirements:
Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a compounding pharmacy, with experience in non-sterile compounding.Familiarity with DME billing, HCPCS coding, documentation requirements, and/or willingness to learn.Openness to learning sterile compounding techniques.Interest or experience in marketing (e.g., social media, sales outreach, campaigns) is a plus.Strong knowledge of compounding techniques, regulations, and safety standards.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.A growth-oriented mindset and dedication to supporting the development and success of the business.
